A Few of My Favorite Things

We’re two weeks from Christmas and I’m sure some of you, like myself, are behind on their Christmas shopping! Hopefully this post will help you shop for that car lover in your life or maybe you’re doing some shopping for yourself!

Instead of a “how to” piece, I’ve decided to compile a list of my favorite detailing items that would be useful to anyone that enjoys rolling up their sleeves and keeping their vehicle nice.

I have chosen these products based on several important factors; performance, availability, ease of use, price and user experience. In other words these are solid choices that work well, are easy to get, not super expensive and bring some enjoyment to keeping a nice car.
  1. The Rag Company Cyclone wash mitt. It holds the right amount of soap, is nice and soft and does a great job cleaning.
  2. The Rag Company Double Twistress drying towel. This is a premium microfiber twist loop drying towel that will dry almost any size vehicle without having to wring it out along the way. So long water spots!
  3. Grit Guard Bucket Insert. Drop one in the bottom of your wash bucket and the bottom of your rinse bucket and be amazed at how much dirt doesn’t end up back in your wash mitt! Consider this some serious swirl prevention!
  4. P&S Brake Buster Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner. Dilute up to 5:1, use per the label and think of all the money you’re saving while admiring your clean wheels AND TIRES (yes it is for both!). Like all wheel cleaners, you need to agitate it with a soft brush. It’s not touchless, none of them are, I wish companies would stop acting like we all need a touchless wheel cleaner. Blast away the dirt and brake dust, not the clear coat in your wheels.
  5. P&S Pearl Auto Soap. Highly concentrated so a bottle lasts a long time. It’s super slick and has a nice, light, lemony smell. It says dilute 80-128:1 and they mean it, no need for extra with this stuff!
  6. P&S Beadmaker. Use it as a topper on your coated, waxed or sealed car and use it as a drying aid. This stuff is super easy to use (I can apply it to an entire car in 10 minutes), insanely slick and smells amazing. It leaves your car looking great and your garage has never smelled better.
  7. The Rag Company Creature Edgeless 420. Use this towel for anything, especially Beadmaker. It’s got a long pile side and a short pile side so it’s perfect for spreading and absorbing product. Spray beadmaker on a panel, wipe with the creature, flip the towel and give it final buff. It’s also prefect for any interior application. I like to keep one color for paint related stuff and another color for interiors.
  8. IGL Dash. The 90’s called, they want their Armor All back! IGL Dash is a water based, non-greasy dressing for all of your interior plastics, vinyl, etc. it provides real UV protection, doesn’t dry out your interior parts and smells like heaven. When you picked up your car from me and commented about how good it smelled, it’s IGL Dash and sometimes in conjunction with the next product
  9. IGL Leather. Super easy to use, leaves your leather feeling clean and fresh and smells like heaven went out and designed an air freshener that everyone loves. If your car doesn’t have leather seats, trade it in and get one that does so that you can use this stuff. Seriously, you deserve it.
  10. IGL Tyre. Water based tire shine that allows you to adjust the level of gloss. Want new looking, matte shine? Put on one coat. Want glossy, wet looking tires? Wait for the first application to dry and put in a second. This stuff smells great too but the most important thing is that it’s water based. This means it’s not going to turn your tires brown over time. Brown tires are noooo bueno! Yuck.

So that’s it. Pretty much all you need to keep your car looking awesome after I’ve gotten it there for you. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about products, their uses or any other detailing questions you may have.

Some Scrooge is going to get ticked off if I don’t say this......
